Roel Vaeyens

Roel Vaeyens is als dr.-assistent verbonden aan de Vakgroep Bewegings- en Sportwetenschappen van de Universiteit Gent. Hij is doctor in de lichamelijke opvoeding en gekwalificeerd lesgever voor het secundair onderwijs (diploma AILO). Talentidentificatie en ontwikkeling van sporters (‘player pathway development’) vormen de peilers van zijn onderzoeksactiviteiten. Hij doet onderzoek naar de onderliggende mechanismen en ontwikkeling van spelinzicht in functie van talentidentificatie in voetbal, alsook naar de andere prestatiebepalende factoren in relatie tot de maturiteit. Zijn onderzoeksresultaten werden gepubliceerd in internationale tijdschriften, trainersmagazines en boeken. Hij is ook co-auteur van het boek ‘De jeugdvoetballer beter begeleiden’. In opdracht van de KBVB verzorgde hij reeds lezingen.
